    hey
Just wondering how often you socialise with your flatmates? We usually all go on a night out to a club about once a week and get on well then, probably because we've all had a drink. We get on well the rest of the time too don't get me wrong, but we only really see each other when we cook (or passing each other on the way to a lecture) and we don't really have much of a conversation, more of 'hello', 'how was your day' etc. I suppose that's normal but it just always feels a bit awkward.

Dont know if I'm just being paranoid, but are you like this with your flat? I know some flats just all naturally get on great and are always together on nights out and in the day. It just worries me about houses next year and who i'm going to live with because I feel its too awkward to talk to them about that.

    i'm at exeter uni btw

    thanks

You socialise with flatmates more than me. I 've been here 2 months and still don't even know how many people actually live in my flat. It is 4 rooms, see 1 regular ish she's in the same subject (different course) so we have some lectures together, but never talk more than a 'hello' type thing like you describe.
The other 2, well I've seen one a couple of times but on evidence in the kitchen I don't think she is there that often, or she never eats? the 4th, never seen, there is 4 tea towls and all cubards have food in but only 2 washing up liquid (I keep mine in my cubuard) and only 1 is used.. so it's still a mystery.

All I'm saying is it could be worse (if you want to be social, for me this is great!) Do you have anyone from your course you might want to live with next year? I know I'm staying in halls so I don't have that problem so cant really help much, sorry.

I'm actually surprised how well my flatmates and I get on since we've all fairly different (since they're fairly social extroverts and I'm a fairly awkward nerd) but we do get on quite well.
There's five of us (four girls and one boy) and we usually end up in the kitchen at the same time such as meal times or late in the evening but typically we'll end up staying and chatting for up to a couple of hours in the kitchen. We usually end up going together as well - or typically in the pairs us girls have sort of made (as we do know who we get on better with). After a couple of months (and a few drunken nights) together, we're comfortable enough ripping the pee out of each other now :P

However, I know that most of the people we're all friends with who stay in halls all seem pretty surprised that we actually talk, never mind hang out with each other. :P
