JPMorgan, Bank of America, etc advertise technology roles.

what are these exactly and do they get paid the same as their financial/banking roles?

thanks!

Well with what I've seen from former coursemates, in terms of pay, the technical roles at banks like JP Morgan, KPMG e.t.c tend to pay salaries that are similar to normal engineering roles (so nowhere near the starting salary a financial quantitative analyst would get), for example I know people who started at JP Morgan and KPMG with a starting salary of around £32K-34K, which is similar to the starting salary you would get at a major Electronics company like ARM or Imagination Technologies. Some where offered around £5K more if they were in London but if you are based in the JP Morgan branch in a place like Bournemouth for example then £30K - £35K is the salary you should expect.

A Quantitative analyst (Quant) at a major investment bank can have a starting salary of around £50K+ but the roles are very difficult to get.
