Chinese Universities

My friend is orginally from China, and plans to go and study there in 2008.. I was just wondering if Chinese universities accept A levels, or is it only the IB and other international qualifications which would be accepted from UK students?

Nah. Anything goes, just some high school diploma from whatever country you're from. Your friend made the right decision: it's a lot easier to get into a good Chinese university if you're a foreign citizen than if you're Chinese: actually, there has been some controversy about Chinese people moving abroad and obtaining foreign citizenship for the sole reason of getting into a Chinese university (sounds weird, I know).

If you're a foreign national, you just need to submit some copy of your high school diploma and the results from the national Chinese proficiency test HSK (汉语水平考&#35797 :wink:

: it will be extremely easy to get sufficient scores on this test if you speak and read Chinese decently. The top universities, however, (talking Beida, Qinghua & Fudan) have their own entrance examinations I think, which foreign nationals must take as well.
