Applying to medical school, is taking an EPQ worth it?

Hi, I'm currently in year 12 and I'm hoping to apply to medical school next year. I was just wondering if taking the Extended Qualification Program is really worth it as many of the unis I've looked at don't take it into consideration as part of their conditional acceptance. Assuming it comes down to me and another applicant, would this place me above them or is it really not worth it? (bearing in mind I only got 4A*s and 6As at IGCSE)
Given your GCSEs, I would do the EPQ, and use it to explore and write about something in medicine that really interests you - some innovative new treatment, or a rare disease or something like that.

This would give you something to write about on your personal statement, and something to discuss at interview. It would make you stand out from the other applicants.
