I was at UCE doing the general media and communications course (have made a change now) but it was no reflection on the uni or the course itself.. the tutor for the music industries course is amazing.. just listening to him talk about the course makes you want to do it.
There are open days and such available where you can go and look specifically around the department.. they have so many different studios for music, photography and such.. so you can take your pick.
I'd say if your looking for a good step in to the industry this course is a good way to go... Good Luck.

how come you changed? just out of interest???
was the area okay?
ive been looking at courses and they arent in very good places.
Like buckinghamshire and canterbury! Not many music venues there etc.
Birmingham has so many so I figured it'd be great to go there.
It was no reflection on the course.. as I said. I just changed my mind about what type of course I actually wanted to do. :p:
It's really quite a nice campus.. near the train station and such.. Perry Barr where the main campus is, as an area isn’t the best but it's only 3 miles or so from the centre of B'ham so it's quite easy to just get a train into the centre.

It's a good structure, they put all their students together for the main media lectures (so that’s like 300 students) then they have lecture reviews in smaller groups (of about 30) then they have professional studies.. then you would do music industries in separate specialist groups, with maybe another chosen area (not sure how that works for the specialists)
It is a really good course and all the staff involved seem really enthusiastic.

300! Woaaaaah! thats crazy.
I had like 15 in my last uni.
What are you studying?
Im going to have a look at the uni on wednesday I think.
Definately applying for UCE.
Can't wait to have a look around!!!
I know it is a little.. but that's over all the specialisms and such.. so music industries, photography, journalism, visual design, radio, tv studio, tv location, web design/new media.. and then the broad course. So yup somewhere around 300 ish?! :p:

Well good luck to you.. the uni itself is a bit 70's looking but once you get past that its quite pleasant.

I havent decided on my course yet.. I am going to apply for entry next year so I have a bit of time to think. :p: Let me know how you get on at UCE?
