Help with placement email/letter

Hi all, I'm 2nd year business student and I'm at that stage now where we have to apply for placement jobs. Some of the companies I'm interested in don't advertise any placement positions so I was going to reach out to them via email/letter and see if I could do my placement with them.

I'm stuck on writing the email/letter because I have no idea what to include and my university isn't offering any help with this. So if you have any templates or advice on what to include, how to set it out etc. it would be much appreciated :smile:

Hi there, speculative emails and letters of application can be really worth the extra effort it takes and can find you a gem of a placement. I would be brief, explain what you’re after - straight to the point - attach a CV and cover letter and thank them for their time. Do you not have a Careers Service who could help at your uni? We have a placement officer whose entire job is to help with this, do you not have someone similar?
