I think you should be a little more optimistic about our own wisdom.

We tried that in the 60s and 70s, it was an unmitigated disaster from which we've only started to recover.

It wo t for a while...the crown estates are worth several billion pounds, and by abolishing the monarchy, the profits from these estates would no longer go to the treasury, but directly to the owner (monarch). Thus it is a waste of time and money to get rid of them....plus prince philip is a don :biggrin:

The pure definition of stagnation is democracy. Even for the most simple of tasks, a democratic house takes forever to act upon. Then after tons of compromises they come up with a half-ass solution to everything.
