Study Abroad

I am holding an offer for PPE, which opens up the PAIS and Economics exchange programmes to me. These were covered on the Open Day, but I would just like to clarify a few points with reference to the American opportunities - I don't have any languages, and I'm not sure about the extra year that Erasmus takes up. It's not really a deal breaker, but it may help me to make a decision about which university to firm.

First of all, how difficult is it to get on these? As I understand it, application is a competitive process due to the small number of places available, but there is no real indication as to the level of competition on the site.

Also, am I correct in thinking that the Economics department only has operate an exchange with the University of California?

And if there are actually any students who have been on an American exchange (or European even), regardless of subject, it would be great if you could share your thoughts on your year abroad.

Thanks.
