Durham or manchester?

Hey!! ive received offers from Cambridge, durham Manchester and York for music. I am going to put cambrdige as my first but I don't know what to put as my second. Durham is currently top of the league table for music, Manchester 2nd and Cambridge 3rd. However, I have heard mixed opinions on durham. Ive been to Manchester twice and I love the city and the course soo so much. I haven't been to durham and I cant afford flights because I have £1.90 hahaha so I need major advice. Anyone know anything about the music course at durham in comparison with manc???? thanks lads xoxoxo

Not in relation to music BUT have you considered taking a train to Durham uni to check it out (I'm assuming you live in the UK) and ask a parent/guardian to help you out with the travel costs, as it is for prospective universities, I'm sure they'll understand!
Hope this helps

I have gotten offers from Durham, Royal Holloway, Goldsmiths and Southampton. I personally think I will put Durham as my firm, because the course is great and varied, whilst also allowing you to specialise. They have loads of different music societies and several orchestras, and because of the collegiate system you have a uni with almost like at least one orchestra per college (Collingwood the one ive been offered has several orchestras, a couple of which are student run, plus recording studio and stuff, even though its definitely of the more sporty colleges, so maybe that says something?). Have you checked out that virtual open day thing they’ve done now? Its really really good and the main thing thats made me make this decision as well. Im mainly into classical so for me it seems particularly appealing because of the emphasis on performance, tons of orchestras, conducting is offered as a module, etc. Also, gorgeous city with decent nightlife, with newcastle nearby so potentially could be good for gigging. Maybe youve already made your decision but these are my thoughts!))
