How to not constantly refer to papers for a science EPQ

So I'm trying to find a question for my EPQ.
I'm struggling because I want to do a science dissertation but I don't want it to sound as if I'm recalling a textbook of knowledge on the topic with constant references to other papers.
Can anyone give me some pointers?

That's how an EPQ works. When I did mine I took notes from LOADS of resources, however you only pick out certain bits you need. So for example you may write 30 bullet points of facts from a particular source but when it comes to writing the essay, from that source you may use 1 or 2 bullet points and then you analyse and evaluate what it says in them using your own brain if that makes sense.
