QUOTAS

Why do applications for things like UCAS ask for thinks like your sexuality, nationality etc? I don’t get the argument there could be bias because how could you be biased if you don’t ask the questions in the first place? The idea of quotas are horrible...

Hi,
I'm not sure that you HAVE to answer these questions as they do not have a red asterisk next to them on the UCAS forms. In most other applications these questions are optional too.

These questions, if answered, usually allow for positive discrimination; where the employer/uni can see that you may have had a much harder path path to get to that point compared to other applicants. Of course, you don't have to answer if you don't feel comfortable with it :smile:
