A tale of two laptops

Hi everyone,

I'm buying a new laptop soon and have narrowed it down to the following two, but I can't seem to decide which one would be better:

1) Medion Erazer P15609 Core i7 https://www.ebuyer.com/973098-medion-erazer-p15609-core-i7-8gb-512gb-ssd-gtx-1650-15-6-win10-30028175

2) HP Laptop 15s-fq1010na Intel Core i7 https://www.very.co.uk/hp-laptop-15s-fq1010na-intel-core-i7-1065g7-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-156-inch-full-hd-laptop-with-optional-microsoft-365-personal-1-yearnbsp--silver/1600450268.prd

In terms of value for money, I think I'm more drawn to the Medion one especially because I'll be able to upgrade it to 32 GB later if I want.

I'm not planning to do very intensive tasks with my laptop, but I was thinking that it would be nice to have one for a bit of gaming and the Medion one obviously has a good graphics card to help with this and the fact that I could upgrade it later as I mentioned above.

My only issue is that I've never used a Medion laptop before (or heard of it before I started searching for laptops so I don't know what kind of reputation it has?) I haven't used a HP one either although HP is clearly a lot more well known. So I could really use any reviews of either of the above or related models if people have experience of using them.

Thanks a lot for your help

Gaming is potentially an extremely intensive task, and you can get much better graphics performance for your budget. This Asus is substantially more powerful for an extra 20 quid (don't be put off by coming from eBay, it's a new laptop sold directly by Currys, just through their eBay storefront).

Medion have been around for a long time and have generally been known as a reliable brand.
Hi,

Thanks a lot to you both, that was really useful information

I am quite tempted to get that laptop you've recommended, however what I've decided is that I don't actually need a gaming laptop right now, and for that purpose, it's usually best to do all the necessary research and just build a gaming PC yourself right? Also, I've got a PS4 so I think I'm just being a bit greedy!

This is the laptop I'm thinking of going for btw:

Thanks again!
To be honest, it’s best to stick with well known brands as if you ever need a repair, or something fixed, it’ll be easy to get that.
