Will my current university know if I apply to another university for transfer?

If I apply to another university for transfer using ucas (during first year) will my current university know? Will there be hard feelings so to speak?

You should tell them (applying elsewhere doesn’t mean that you commit to leaving your course). Many universities will expect your reference on ucas to be provided by your current university - it’s better to have the conversation and ask for that reference when you first apply instead of trying to arrange it in a rush after you have applied.

Your current university won’t mind if you apply elsewhere and if you talk to your tutor then they should be supportive (both in making the rest of your time there better and in your application - a transfer looks better than a drop out on the government stats)
