Response to your title? No.
Response to this? As an LD nurse yes, but not as a children's nurse.
If you want to be a children's nurse in an acute setting, you need to do children's nursing. You need to talk to the university before the end of year 1 about changing fields - I've already told you that in another one of your threads on this subject, so get off TSR and get on to the uni.
LD nurses often work in community settings and it can overlap with social care type work
I know some LD trained nurses in school nursing but this is not a particularly clinical role
You are often as LD looking at life skills, challenging behaviour, signposting to other services etc
You would be unlikely to get a job on a children’s ward in a hospital

Impossible, more like - as you'd need to be registered as a children's nurse.

I've been shortlisted for a post at a children's hospital and know of adult trained nurses working there though this is not in every department, I didn't go to the interview as it would have been a change in direction career wise that I didn't want to take at the time. The NMC don't seem to care about what branch nurses are trained in, as long as they are competent in the tasks they are performing. However, as advice for the OP, if you want to work in a children's environment then being child branch trained is going to give you a wider range of job options than trying to find areas that will accept non child trained staff.

Not impossible- there are specialist roles that do come up such as LD liaison and the children’s hospice local to me accept children’s or LD as a lot of the respite care is LD but as a staff nurse on a children’s ward then it’s children’s nurses. However they do accept adult trained at some trusts for Children’s .
