Why you should take SAT early

There are various on here who suggest taking the SAT at year 12, but actually it's too late.

First, the SAT is basically only GCSE level, so basically you could take it during year 11 and obtain pretty decent results, as well as broadcasting to universities that you can obtain pretty decent results even earlier.

Second, taking it in year 10/early part of 11 does give practice on the maths that you'll need at GCSE level so might as well get it done earlier.

Third, there are various gifted programs in the US that require the SAT taken before 13. If you score really well on it you can be funded for scholarship to enter the US for gifted programs. If you obtain at least 700 in one section before 13 you can enrol in the Study of Exceptional Talent.

Considering that SAT is around GCSE level, you could sit it at 15-16 so you only have to accelerate by 2-3 years compared to high school juniors sitting the SAT at 16-17 (3-4 years acceleration).

Last but not least it's decent above-level testing to test your aptitude.
