Handed in notice & behaviour change from manager

Anyone experienced the same? Handed in my notice and got accused of not being "loyal" to the company or team by the manager because I applied for jobs. Last time I checked it wasn't illegal to apply for jobs. Been in the role 3+ years so it's not like I'm leaving within 6 months. It's a shame I haven't got enough holidays so I could just leave without working for them. This has just impacted the way I think off the company.
If you have found somewhere new with opportunities to better yourself, and leave in a correct manner working through your full notice requirements then no one can fault you.
They should be happy for you and willing to give you a good reference, this is part and parcel of employing people, so I would try to leave on friendly terms if possible, bearing in mind they are feeling a bit disappointed at having to find a replacement.
