Urgent Care

Urgent Care is a type of medical service that provides immediate treatment to patients who have non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses that require prompt attention but are not severe enough to require emergency room care. Urgent Care clinics are often open outside of regular business hours and can provide a range of services, such as diagnostic testing, X-rays, and medication prescriptions.

It is important to note that Urgent Care is not a replacement for emergency room care in life-threatening situations, and patients with such conditions should go to the emergency room immediately.

A 28-year-old man presents to an Urgent Care clinic with a 3-day history of fever, chills, and productive cough. He reports feeling short of breath and wheezing. His medical history is significant for asthma and seasonal allergies. Which of the following is the most appropriate next step in management?

A) Discharge home with instructions to follow up with primary care provider if symptoms worsen
B) Administer a nebulizer treatment and prescribe antibiotics
C) Transfer to the emergency department for further evaluation and management
D) Order a chest X-ray and prescribe a short-acting bronchodilator
