What is Digital Marketing like at uni?

I am looking to study digital marketing at uni as a masters degree, but my undergraduate degree is sports Journalism, Should that matter? I am also wondering if it is worth it? As I don't know much about marketing bit seem to know about their modules

I really hate it when people ask whether something is worth it. What's the criteria? What are your reasons for doing it as a degree? Why are you even looking at the degree? It's so vague and incredibly superficial.

If the entry requirements say that you are accepted with a degree in any subject, then your undergrad doesn't matter so long you get the right grade. Marketing isn't rocket science, so it's not like you will struggle to catch up with the subject if you come from a completely discipline.

These are some of the random degrees that I have found on the first page of Google and the entry requirements more or less affirm the above:
https://www.kcl.ac.uk/study/postgraduate-taught/courses/digital-marketing-msc
https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/masters/courses/list/20294/msc-digital-marketing/entry-requirements/#course-profile
https://www.qmul.ac.uk/postgraduate/taught/coursefinder/courses/digital-marketing-msc/

I am biased against marketing degrees in general, but more so if it's digital marketing. My reasons include:

Marketing is not an area where having a degree in it would drastically improve your employment prospects

It's an area where you need squat all in order to get into the industry

Experience is more valued than academic knowledge

There is a plethora of other courses and certificates that you can take that are more current, have better information, and more creative use of marketing applications than what you can find in a marketing degree

Marketing degrees aren't usually internationally recognised, but professional certificates like CIM are (and CIM has one specifically for digital marketing)

There are better specialist qualifications for digital marketing e.g. IDM, DIM at a fraction of the cost of a degree

No degree that I have come across includes anything on copywriting, which is a key skill in marketing

I don't know what you are referring to here. If you want further details, you might want to elaborate and be more specific
