So many computer-related uni courses

I'm in year 12 at the moment and looking into where to go post-18. I'm toying between an apprenticeship and uni. On the uni side of things, there are so many different computer-related courses. I like the coding side of things but am not really sure what I want to do, just that it's something in the IT industry. It's really overwhelming seeing so many different couirses which are so similar. Can someone who made a decision for 1 advise me on the differences and which is best for someone who is unsure which area to specialise
CS degrees have the highest unemployment rates of any subject. Often this is because students just fall into a very broad and/or academic/theory heavy degree with no real understanding of different jobs or what they want.

If you’re not sure then wait. Apply for yini placements and work and earn some money for a year to find out more about the different possibilities and what you enjoy and what you hate.

More specialist practical degrees with placement years will help more with employability than theory heavy, broad CS degrees. If you go down the academic/theory heavy route then there’s more pressure on you to cover the practical and work based experience in your free time alongside your studies in order to come out ready for industry.
