stuck between 2 degrees

Hi guys,

I will be hopefully going to uni this september. I am stuck between 2 degrees criminology and marketing. Right now, I have an offer for criminology but thinking to change it to marketing. Any advice?

Hi there

Current Cardiff Uni student here!

I would say that the course that your studying - and how much you enjoy it - is the make or break part of university in my experience. That doesn't mean that you should stress but I would say to go with your gut. Try to get as much information as possible, check what module options there are and career prospects - then, see what your gut tells you.

I'm sorry that I can't be more exact but that's what worked for me! No regrets!

Good luck with your choice. I hope that you have the best time, whatever you study!

Go to some University Open Days.
Sign up for the subject presentations for a range of different subjects.
Find out of these subjects at degree level are actually what you thought they were about.

Yeah ive been to the criminology open day talks, sounds interesting but first module is about analysing a book. Criminology sounds interesting and its mainly coursework however its not employable

The two options are like chalk and cheese - have you really thought through what you want to do?

Take a year out and think about what you want to do. Try and get some careers advice and go to some more uni open days and attend subject talks for courses you might be interested in. Look at degree apprenticeships too. Then if you still want to go to uni, reapply with your achieved grades next year.

If you want to find a job after Uni in the field that you studied, choose Marketing.
