Is briggate Leeds safe

I have been looking at the brand new student accom briggate studios and I have seen all sorts about briggate being all sorts of crazy and should be avoided . As it is a student accomodation around the city center area is it a bad idea to stay in the accommodation there .

Briggate is pretty much dead on in the city centre depending on the exact location of the accomm. That means it’s busy and well lit most the time and so might be safer. Every area you look there’s going to be horror stories about crime and safety. The most dangerous of the student areas is generally Hyde Park but most students live there anyway with few to no bad encounters. The thing is it’s a city with crime and wherever you go that won’t change. I was super worried about staying in Woodhouse when I was in first year but I was fine. Realistically it’s more to do with bad luck/wrong place, wrong time than safety in an area. Pick an accomm you like and worry about the rest later!
