Staying at home for uni

I'm starting uni in september and I'm staying at home because I can't afford to move away. I know a few friends who are doing the same so I'm not worried about making friends but I'm not as excited as I would be if I was moving away. Is there anything I could do to be more excited about uni?
Well some halls have group chats on stuff like what’s app maybe you could start one for commuting students.maybe arrange a night out or something at uni you could start a commuting student society and run events like trips to Thorpe park and stuff.

Hey,
The excitement that some have about moving away will also be a mix of nervousness and often there can be times of real panic when moving away. My advice would be to try and not compare yourselves to others because the excitement you'll see is only one part of how people are feeling. There are definitely pro's and con's to moving out and staying at home and so try to focus on the positives of being at home.
To get excited for uni it can be as simple as collecting things you may need such as your stationary, a bag for going to uni or perhaps a travel mug. You can also take time to check out what is close to the campus such as coffee shops or libraries and see if you can find some places that might be good for study spots or for suggesting where to meet up with people you'll get to know at uni.
Summer is also a time to switch off a bit and relax and not feel consumed about uni which students often feel during the semesters. Take time to relax and chill and enjoy the 'free' time you have to meet up with friends or do activities you enjoy.
Good luck for starting uni and hope you enjoy it!

Hey there!
There's no reason to be less excited about university just because you're not living there. Sure, it may be harder to make friends but that by no means, means it's going to ruin your year. The best advice I can give is lead your year with how you'd like it to turn out. For example, if you want to make loads of friends and socialise all year then you've got to give yourself the opportunity to do that by going out actively and introducing yourself to people. Make a conscious effort to put yourself in situations to be introduced to new people through who you already know. Make your presence known through social media by joining all the Facebook freshers chats. Talking to other students about university life and things like that is bound to get you excited to start. If you want to be more excited about the prospect of going then watch TikToks and YouTube videos of other students who have been in your position. I did that before moving in and it helped me get into the right mindset. Even if you're not going, I bet there will be loads of content from people who commuted.

Hope this helped!
