Train travel daily commute

Is there anything more than the student rail card to get cheaper fares if your commuting to uni everyday by train?

I'm having to commute daily for an internship this summer and have found that buying a season ticket has saved me a lot of money. Even with a 16-25 railcard, I would've been paying more buying separate tickets each day. It's a big lump sum at the start of the period you're getting the ticket for but it is cheaper overall.

Depending on what time of day you travel and what the fare is, you might find that a 16-25 railcard doesn't say you anything at all. (This is due to the £12 minimum fare:

Railcard terms and conditions
The 16-25 Railcard has a minimum fare that applies from 04.30 and 10.00 Monday to Friday. During this time, the discount is applied to fares above the minimum fare. This minimum fare does not apply to:

4.5.1. Advance tickets; or

4.5.2. journeys on public holidays; or

4.5.3. journeys during July and August.

At the time of printing, the minimum fare is £12. The minimum fare is subject to change during the validity of your Railcard - check website for the most up to date information.

You could look at traditional season tickets or flexi season tickets. https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/tickets-railcards-and-offers/ticket-types/season-tickets/
