Please help me calcuate what grade average I need for a 2:1 in third year

Please can someone help me calculate what average grade I would need to get in third year to get a 2:1 overall. In 2nd year I have averaged a grade of 40 due to poor physical health/absense

My degree weighting is 40% or 2/5th for 2nd year
And 60% or 3/5rds for 3rd year

Thankyou so so much

Many universities have non-trivial rules when it comes to degree classifications. For example, they may excluded the lowest credits in each year, or apply different rules if you're at the threshold of the next degree classification up, or apply one of a range of different approaches to see which earns you the "best" result. However, based solely on the simple 40%:60% split you have provided, you would need 74% in your third year to achieve a 2:1 overall.

40% of 40 (for year 2) + 60% of 74 (for year 3) is 60.4%, just over the threshold for a 2:1.
