Essex or UEA?

Hi,

Ive got an offer from Essex (Robotics engineering) and UEA (Engineering). I was wondering which one is better?

- The reputation about engineering
- Hiring rate when graduated
- Facilities (Labs, Gym, Libraries - open 24 hours?)
- Teaching support
- Town

Thank you so much!

Hey!

That's great you are holding an offer from us!!🎓😊

When it comes to your questions here is some answers from us:

We have one of the world's leading robotics research facilities, housing robotic wheelchairs, spiders, dogs, football players, fish and robotic aircraft, which you can often see flying around the robotic arena. Our unique Robotics Gaming Laboratory offers dedicated space for indoor robots and has 24 VICON cameras for racing car tracking. Our Robot Arena is one hundred square metres in area and has a six metre high ceiling to accommodate flying robots.🛫🛰🚀 It has one of the world's largest powered lab floors for long-duration experiments with mobile robots. We have invested over £1 million in equipping this state-of-the-art facility with robotic systems which include:

Thirty wheeled mobile robots, eight flying robots, three robotic fish, three intelligent wheelchairs, one robotic arm, and one robotic hand with five fingers - All computers run either Windows 10 or are dual boot with Linux, and software includes Java, Prolog, C++, Perl, Mysql, Matlab, DB2, Microsoft Office, Visual Studio, and Project. We also have six laboratories that are exclusively for computer science and electronic engineering students. Three are open 24/7, and you have free access to the labs except when there is a scheduled practical class in progress.🚀👌

In terms of campus: Our gym is home to over 160 fitness stations, on-site parking, machines with TV and audio systems and 300 fitness classes every month. We have our 250-metre climbing wall with bouldering and top roping facilities, as well as having over 20 indoor courts including basketball, volleyball, squash, netball and futsal. Our 40 acres of outdoor sports space includes an 18-hole disc golf course, cricket pitch, tennis court, jogging routes, two rugby pitches and five football pitches.💪🤸*♀️⛹️*♀️🏋️*♀️🏂🏇🏌️*♂️

Overlooking the lakes at the heart of our Colchester Campus is the Albert Sloman Library. Use our paternoster lift to reach six floors of research resources, specialist materials, and of course a whole lot of books. It's the perfect environment for quiet reading or that last-minute essay. The library is open 24/7 during term time and has a wide range of learning resources; books, journals, British and foreign-newspapers, microfilms and audio-visual materials - most of course materials are online as well so you can access this from home just as well. 📕📚📑

We have over 165 societies and clubs to join and be part of! I personally did Cheerleading and enjoyed being in a competitive team, where we travelled across the country for competitions, as well as having social events together!🎀

89% of our graduates are in employment or further study (Graduate Outcomes 2023). Our recent graduates have gone on to work for a wide range of high-profile companies including:

National Instruments, Circad Design Ltd, McLaren Formula One Team, B&W Group, BT, IBM, Visa, Google, Microsoft.

Our department has a large pool of external contacts, ranging from companies providing robots for the media industry, through vehicle diagnostics, to electronic system design and circuit design and manufacture, who work with us and our students to provide advice, placements and eventually graduate opportunities.🎇✨🎉

As Britain's oldest recorded development, the city of Colchester is steeped in over two thousand years of history after being founded by the Ancient Romans, and it's also where our main university campus is located. But it's not just Colchester that has lots for you to explore. Chelmsford is the first and only city in Essex, showcasing a bustling city centre packed full of shops and restaurants, it's also the birthplace of radio. A little further north of the county you'll find the village Tiptree, so famous for producing jam, The Queen marked their 125th celebration with a visit by Her Majesty🍓🍒. Our Colchester Campus is also easily reached from London and Stansted Airport in under one hour, with 3 train stations near by🚅🛫

Check out our website for everything we have to offer on campus: https://www.essex.ac.uk/life/colchester-campus.

I understand this is a lot of info - but I hope this helps! ✨😎🎓😊😁
