Can we do more than 3 A levels?

Hi,

My son received his GCSE's few days ago and he didn't get what he expected.
He did pass all his GCSE's with 4's and a 5.

He wanted to do A levels Computer science but all the schools have said no as he needed grade 6 for Maths.

He wanted to do BTEC Computing or IT, however he is unable to find BTEC double IT/Computing. His current school offered Double Business and single IT. We haven't come across many schools offering Double IT/Computing.

If he goes ahead with BTEC double Business and single IT can he do another single BTEC computing course maybe online or somewhere else? I know that makes it to 4 A levels.

His plan was to do IT Apprenticeship after sixth form . We did have a brief look at IT Apprenticeships and they do required BTEC IT/Computing. What if he passes Double Business and single IT but can't get into IT Apprenticeship

Thanks for reading

This student did 5 A Levels
Heading off to Oxbridge universities following their results are Eddie Simpson and Katherine Henley. Eddie achieved five A*s and is going to Cambridge to study engineering. He said: "I needed A*A*AB to get on my course so I’m happy I got more than I needed."

If my son wanted to do an IT apprenticeship after the BTEC will he have difficulty in getting into it if he has a double BTEC in Business rather than a double BTEC in IT?

Again not really my area of expertise, but if you have one BTEC in ICT it is probably better than none and does give you some chance of being able to get an apprenticeship, but I wouldn't take my word on that.

This is certainly not an area I am familiar with, as I have never considered or researched into this particular academic route.

In this case, my best advice is to find the websites of a range of providers of apprenticeships that would appeal to your son and check to see if his BTEC qualifications meet the requirements for the apprenticeship (these should be specified somewhere on the website, I imagine).

I’d also give UCAS a look to see if you can find anything especially insightful, since there are several levels of apprenticeship and I am not entirely sure exactly which one(s) your son would be interested in (definitely level 4 to level 7): https://www.ucas.com/apprenticeships/apprenticeships-england

As for something else that may also be of some use:
