Train Travel

Hi! I'll be commuting to uni this year, which is roughly a 45 minute journey. Northern recently had a huuuge flash sale, so i bought tickets for a month in advance. I wanted to know, if i bought a ticket for like half 8, for example, can i take a later train instead? And if I have a return ticket for like 4 o clock, can I take an earlier or later train? Thank you!

Check if your tickets are advance tickets. These are for specific departures and cannot be used on other trains, however I doubt you have got these. You more likely have off peak or anytime returns which can be used any time that those tickets are valid - off peak and super off peak can only be used at certain times of day and anytime tickets can be used... well, I don't need to explain that. Therefore when you 'booked' the 4pm return trip you could go at 5 or at 3, but make sure you have the right ticket first.
