What criteria does an EPQ have to fit?

My main questions are:
Does my EPQ's focus have to be original, like the ethics of gene therapy is extremely common etc. whereas others r more unique
What sources do I use for an EPQ? I already know of google scholar, etc
Could anybody recommend any focuses related to medicine for an EPQ?

You could start of with a common question and before you present your candidate proposal, continue to refine it to the point where its considered original. That's actually one aspect where you can gain marks. Sources I used for my med EPQ was JSTOR, Proquest, WebMD, YouTube (lectures), published research (PDF files), books, and textbooks. Try and find current and relevant topics in the field (highlights dynamic nature) and find case studies that help support the topic.
