I’m buying my first laptop for uni since my old one is dying on me.
What do you guys recommend getting because I have no clue on what to buy?

I would start by contacting the uni and asking what the minimum spec required for your course is, then you can consider your budget and go from there x

What sort of budget do you have and is there anything else that you may like to use the laptop for besides video editing and essay writing?

I have a £500-£800 budget and I will also be using it for my own leisure as well.

I'm not sure what I can directly recommend here but I would suggest that you look at items from the Lenovo Yoga or Thinkpad series. They're pretty powerful and have a good form factor too.
