Sport Achievement Recognition

In my country, sport related championship achievement is recognized by the state and is usable to obtain a scholarship however do universities in UK recognize it despite the major applied to is completely irrelevant to it? Would it help increasing the acceptance rate?

UK Unis wont 'recognise it' as such but its worth mentioning it briefly as part of your Personal Statement.

If you are keen on playing/participating in sport at Uni, the best UK Unis are Bath and Loughborough - both are training centres for the GB Olympic Team etc and have excellent facilities.
