Problems with word table

Hi guys,

Bit of a weird issue! I can't find anything online about this.

I'm creating a document in word using a table. When I go to type the text doesn't show. The cursor is showing and moving when I hit the letters but no letters are showing until I hit enter. The text then shows in a red colour not black colour. I also can't delete the text or highlight the text. The backspace key just moves in between the letters instead of deleting them. It's soooo frustrating!
Please can anyone help??

A screenshot or screen recording clip might be helpful in diagnosing the problem, but the text colour could be due to "track changes" mode being on? Check the "review" tab on the top of the screen and see if the "track changes" button is depressed.

Also try pressing the insert key once (usually next to home, end, delete) on your keyboard, and see if that makes a difference?
