What do you mean by "personal statement checkers"? What would this "checker" do? Look for plagiarised text? Perform a grammar check? Something else?

TSR offers a free service where a human being (not a tool or a piece of software) will review you personal statement and provide feedback. Is that the kind of thing you're talking about? You can find more details about it here. (Note that the turnaround time is 10 working days.)

If you're currently in college or sixth from, you may have a careers team or head of year who can read it from an applications perspective?
In terms of checking as a proofread do you have friends or family that could check it for you?
