Birthday used for a different day
I have a problem about an occasion. My sisters birthday is on a sunday. She wants to celebrate with only family but my mum is using that day to bring our family friends and introduce the grandma who is visiting the country to come see our house for the first time. My sister is upset because she thinks our mum is using her actual birthday for other occasions and she doesn’t want other people in the house. However, my sister doesn’t want to complain because she’s scared that she’ll be seen as ungrateful.

How old is your sister? 7? 8? Seems a bit bizarre to be obsessing over a specific day. She can celebrate her birthday any time, the grandma is only in the country for a short period and probably organised all sorts of things for her trip without knowing about your sister’s birthday.
