Landlord Locked Heating
Hi, I live in Student rented accommodation through a Student housing agency. Throughout living at our house we’ve never had the need for heating but as it’s started to get into freezing temperatures, we attempted to bump up our heating, to which the app we need to control it denied is from changing the degrees.
We spoke to our letting agent who said that this was right and only they have control over the temperature which they’ve set to 15 degrees and to come on at a specific time during the afternoon and off during the night. The only feature we have is to ‘boost’ which makes it go to 16 degrees for a short amount of time.
This feels completely wrong. The house is absolutely freezing and we can’t even change the temperature of our heating. And with it about to get even worse throughout winter it feels unfair. We pay the bills for the house through rent which is already extortionate when you consider it’s £150 x4 a week.
Is there anything we can do other than buying a space heater?
