Btec Applied science help!!

Im a year 13 student who has already submitted their ucas for radiography however deep down im starting to look at my choices because ive always wanted to do medicine but i thought there was no way i could get in with my majority C's in gcse and Level 3 qualifications however recently ive found a route i could go through to get into a foundation year with medicine course and universities like Bristol, Plymouth and Leicester.

Im currently doing a BTEC national diploma worth 2 a levels in applied science which im predicted DD for and an A level sociology. The way i could get into a foundation year is to do an extended diploma which is worth 3 a levels. However i have a double so is it possible for me to do just 1 year instead of 2 years?

I noticed that with the course (which is at a different college i do not attend to) has most of the units i would of already completed by the end of the year for the diploma and most where mandatory units EXCEPT for unit 7 which is done in the second year of this extended diploma course. All together there are 13 units in the course 6 are taught in first year to achieve foundation diploma and 7 are taught in second year to achieve the extended diploma.

In my college that i attend to now i have completed these units: 1,2,3,4,5,6,9,10 TO ACHIEVE NATIONAL DIPLOMA (2 A level equivalent)

and in the other college where they have the EXTENDED DIPLOMA (3 A level equivalent) course the first year is units:1,2,3,4,8,19 and second year units: 5,6,7,9,15,21,11/23

i've done 7 from all of those units above for extended diploma, and i have 6 that i have not completed, Is it possible to do this in 1 year because i'm very much determined and capable to however is this not allowed in BTEC?

I have the same problem I am also doing a foundation diploma in applied science that is worth 2 alevels and for the university that I need to apply to it requires 3 alevels and to be honest I’m hopeless at this point because everyone I have asked hasn’t gotten any idea of what to do. The course I want to take in uni is diagnostic radiography and they require a DDM and I have only achieved 2 alevels I don’t know what to do as they require 3

Ok sorry but this is a big update, I’ve actually gone with diagnostic radiography at Cardiff uni and I’m gonna start literally 30th of September. Do you mind telling me the university? Because I know that uwe, Cardiff and some other unis like keele allowed a mixture of both a level and btec qualifications which I had done. Is this uni ur on about Exeter? Or something. Trust me unis will allow you with a mixture of both a levels and btecs

Also could you be a bit specific with your a levels, the ones you’ve achieved, the ones your doing. You said that foundation diploma is worth two but it’s actually worth 1.5, national diploma is worth 2 a levels

Oh nvr mind I see u wanna get into St George, is there something particular about it that attracts you to the course because it’s quite low on ranking compared to city London. I had an offer for city London also because they allowed my mixture of qualification because of certain factors. Maybe try looking at course entry requirements in detail to see if you can get into them. Modules also matter in radiography, some uni courses in the lower rankings don’t cover certain modalities that hospitals and clinics are looking for when looking for workers. I understand if maybe u can’t travel to unis accross the uk because in my case I’m literally based in Cardiff so I needed to go Cardiff uni. But definitely look out for more, quality of education is better and you’ll be surprised that the higher ranking ones for diagnostic radiography would allow you as they allowed me.

I have the same exact issue. Its either they need a extended national diploma or with the national diploma they require a science A level alongside it. As i have changed my mind a little late i haven’t even done the UCAT which i regret so bad. I do not know where to go from here as everyone is applying to UCAS and im sat here clueless.

If i can ask, what did you end up doing?
