How do I practise clinical skills safely?

Simulation-based learning is a way of training and developing health professionals' knowledge, skills and attitudes in a safe environment. This could be practical activities, or activities focusing on your mental and verbal skills in different scenarios. Simulated aides, such as replicas of a body part, are often used to train new skills, such as intravenous cannula insertion.

There are also full body manikins used to replicate patients in both form and function, and are often placed in simulated environments, such as hospital wards or clinical areas. This way of learning is great for both individual training and development, but teamworking skills and orientations in new and unfamiliar environments.
