fashion or costume design?!?!?!

Since I was little I always knew I wanted to study fashion. Now that's it is time to choose I can't decide between fashion or costume design. Since I live in Quebec, I have to attend college before university, so I was thinking of studying costume design in college and then go into university for fashion design, but can I even do that?? Also, if I do indeed do that, I'm scared of missing opportunities. What should I do? Please, any advice and help would be really appreciated.

You can absolutely do that! I am not studying fashion but was really considering it for a long time and I know lots of people who are. You could use costume design to build your portfolio and I'm sure costume design teachers would be knowledgeable in fashion design too. I'm not 100% but I'm sure because they are so similar it wouldn't be a huge issue.
