In partnership with Imperial College London, we’ll be working with Pearson VUE to provide admissions tests for science, engineering and some mathematically-based degrees. These tests will be:

The Engineering and Science Admissions Test (ESAT): used by Cambridge for Engineering, Natural Sciences, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, and Veterinary Medicine courses

The Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA): used by Cambridge for Economics and Computer Science courses

Test centres

The tests will be taken online at a local test centre managed by Pearson VUE, the specialist admissions test service of Pearson Education, who have a well-established global network of test centres.

Costs

Applicants will be required to pay an administration charge to take the tests:

£75 if taken in the UK or Republic of Ireland

£130 if taken anywhere else

UK candidates in financial need can apply for a bursary to allow them to take the test for free. You’ll be able to find details on our website in spring 2024.

According to 'uni admissions':

'ESAT exam replaces the NSAA and ENGAA exams, aligning closely with the format of the NSAA.

At the heart of this assessment is a core Maths section, a compulsory section, accompanied by two additional sections, allowing candidates to choose from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or additional Mathematics.

With a reduced time frame of 40 minutes per section (compared to the NSAA exam), the ESAT aims to evaluate candidates' science and maths knowledge. '
