Why is it difficult to sleep in summer, if night time temperature is mid?

I mean if you acc look at the temp for summer nights they normally range from around 16-21 degrees. These temperatures during the day in other months we have no issues with functioning even during the day, however during summer it feels like it’s too hot to sleep? Anyone know why? Are our bodies adjusted to sleeping in much cooler temperatures or something?
