paying for exams due to attendance?

I was told by my classmate that if your attendance for your subject is below 90% then you will have to pay money for your exam and apparently it was around £50 or so but does this rule apply to all schools? I was never told about this being a rule and since this is pretty important I would have assumed they would have addressed this by email or some sort but was never told about this at all. My attendance for maths is at 88% so I will definitely be able to get that above 90% before my exams but was just curious if this rule applies to every single school?
