Is a gift appropriate for past academic supervisor who wrote my reference?
Hi, I have an academic supervisor from my old uni that was my reference for 2 medicine application cycles.
I have been self employed since graduation so I had no one who could be my reference, so it really meant a lot when she said she would be my reference, even though 1. I am not her student anymore 2. It's been a while since I've graduated (2018).
Now that I have been successful in getting in, I want to send her a thank you email along with an amazon gift card, but wanted to ask your opinion on whether this is appropriate.
I have looked online, and some say a thank you enough and they would need to declare any gifts given.
I am unable to meet her in person so the gift will have to be sent to her work email, but I don't want to cause her any unnecessary inconvenience.
