As a general rule, when writing up, use past tense and write impersonally in the passive voice. And don't write it in bullet points or like a set of instructions. Example:

Do NOT write: "I/we used a hygrometer to measure the relative humidity" or "1. Use a hygrometer to measure the relative humidity" or "I/We will use a..."

Instead write: "The relative humidity was measured using a hygrometer"
