If you do lie make sure to believe the lie and know what to say if they bring it up in the interview.
I looked up the matter on the Internet...
“Since the introduction of the Fraud Act 2006 it is now a criminal offence for anyone to make false representation for their own gain, including potential employees making untrue or misleading claims on their CV. All employers should be actively screening against this, a process which can easily be done online and at minimal cost.” http://www.statutelaw.gov.uk/content.aspx?ActiveTextDocId=2922461&filesize=2772 - the law. But in practice, they seem to be concerned about people who lie about their qualifications.
