Chemistry question help needed please! :)

hi, just need help on a simple question, my mind's gone blank!

caco3 + 2hcl --> cacl2 + h2o +co2

7.50 x 10^-3 mol caco3 reacts with 0.2 mol dm hcl

calculate the volume in cm3 of 0.2mol dm-3 hcl required to react with 7.5 x 10^-3mol caco3

Thanks

Too blank to find the shift key obviously...

You have any idea how to start?

You are given the moles of CaCO3

You first have to work out how many moles of HCl this reacts with using the equation.

oh yeah, thanks, so volume hcl(aq) works out at 75 and volume co2 180cm3.

Thanks

Mol HCl = 2 x mol CaCO3 = 1.5 x 10-2

Moles = molarity x volume (litres)

1.5 x 10-2 = 0.2 x vol

vol = 7.5 x 10-2 = 75 cm3 :smile:
