I've also had a phone call to call me for interview. I assume that means the shortlisting's been done for Manchester, Sheffield, Liverpool and Leeds applications since I was asked to rank my top 3.

Everyone seems to have been asked to list their top 3 but I am really confused now as I only applied to one with radiotherapy (since I didnt realise the others didn’t have radiotherapy despite posting it on their advert) and I now have an interview on the day of radiotherapy but surely since only one of my places I applied to had radiotherapy I cant rank the 3 :s-smilie:

What date you getting interviewed and what is your chosen speciality?

Is it not imaging thats interviewed for on the Tuesday :s-smilie:

do you think this means you have been shortlisted for imaging despite not applying to it or have they just rearranged the timetable without telling us :s-smilie:

They ask you to rank to ensure equality across the country. Basically you are given an overall score for the interviews and it is qute possible that even though you weren't ranked highest for the hospital which shortlisted you, you scored higher than anyone who was shortlisted for a different hospital which you applied for but may not have been shortlisted for. In this case they would offer you the job at the other hospital. Indeed, I believe even if you score higher for a hospital that you didnt even apply for, you will be offered the job there. This ensures the top people are taken nationwide. That's why you will only get one assessment centre for each specialism, and will be unaware which have selected your application.

Hey! Can I ask where you heard this? I would like to find out if I could get placed at one that I didnt apply to as without realising it a few of my applications were to hospitals with different specialities to what I am interested in. Thanks :smile:

I know the feeling but I don't think we'll hear anything until the end of the week. We should know by the 4th, which probably includes the 4th too, as people with interviews next Monday recieved calls/emails this week.

As has been said, I don't think we'll be hearing anything until the 4th.

With regards to the format of the supporting statement, I imagine lots of people will have written it in continuous prose. I think the people who are assessing the applications are smart enough to pick out the relevant bits.

Right, well that seems a little bit unfair. I didn't exactly exclude my technical skills from my application, but I certainly didn't go into as much detail or emphasis as I could have. I know there was some discussion earlier on this thread about a two page limit on the personal statement, so to discuss each and every point on the person specification list would certainly take one well over that limit.

Just have to hope for the best now.

Yeah they didn't really tell us what they were looking for apart from the obvious but don't worry I'm sure there are others out there and no doubt things like this they will take into consideration next year hopefully...all consequences of being guinea-pigs I guess. :s-smilie:

i think everyone has a case of paranoia at the moment. We do not know how they scored the applications so there is no need to get upset!

Hey, I'm really worried about whether I should prepare for the interviews this week in case they tell us at the last minute!! Any need??

Also who should we contact if we want to enquire on the decision? Cus if I have been rejected I'd rather just know now intead of worrying they may invite me to interview right before the 4th

The info is below and the link I took it from below that, the assessment centres seem fairly mundane, 4 interviews ten minutes a piece.

Separate, detailed guidance and support on the assessment and interviewing process will be provided later. What follows is an outline summary only.
All Trusts taking part in the assessment centre assess candidates on a single date at a central, large venue capable of housing 4 separate interview areas. Each interview station will have two assessors who are charged with asking each candidate standard questions about a different aspect of the person specification. Interview stations typically include a practical exercise, two technical interviews and an interview judging non-technical aspects of work such as leadership, future development potential and situational judgement. Interviews typically last 10 minutes each.

"All assessors score on an agreed rating scale for their specific area as well as shared observations such as communication skills. Proformas of scores and observations are completed by each interviewer, which are then consolidated to provide a candidate score.

After all assessments are completed, the assessment teams select the candidates with the best scores and agree where they are to be offered training. Each host employer selects the applicant to their Trust with the highest score. However, it may arise that unsuccessful applicants to one Trust may have significantly higher scores than the best applicant to another Trust. Under these circumstances, it is possible to invite the candidate to consider accepting a post at a different Trust from the one originally applied to. In this way, the NHS will take on the very best available nationally, rather than just locally.

The highest scoring candidates considered to be of high enough quality but not the first choice on the day, may be offered a reserve place should any of the preferred candidates fail to take up their offer of training."

If you don't hear one week before the date then assume you weren't shortlisted. One week is sufficient to prepare for an interview, but by all means get yourself into a panic about it now if you like.
