NHS Clinical Scientist Recruitment

Ok this is a question to any of the current trainees. It says that as you are employed by the NHS you will be entitled to the usual annual leave. I am wondering how that works exactly, if you have rotations and leactures and all of that how do you pencil in time for annual leave lol

So does that time table posted earlier for the interviews still stand? Because if they're in may isn't that going to interfere with exams?

I applied for the Blood Sciences specialism. Was it good news? Hopefully I'll hear soon either way! Are you from Wales/a Welsh speaker by any chance? I seem to remember them saying something about preferring welsh speakers...

Thanks, I had a look there after I posted, it's ridiculous, they're in Birmingham so I'll have to book a hotel room for the night before, not to mention preparing for them and upcoming exams! Every part of this feels poorly planned this year...

You're employed by your trust as if you were any other employee there. The SHA pay your salary to the department, and then they pay it to you. As such, just like any other NHS employee you have a pension and the 27 days annual leave that come as a new NHS entrant (if you've been in the NHS previously, this may be slightly different).

Your time at uni is spent as 'Study', and counts as a normal day at work. You won't really take annual leave when you have lectures. When you can take your leave is up to how nice your bosses are! If you're taking a week or more off at once they'll (assuming they're nice) pencil your rotations around that provided you give them good notice. My bosses have essentially said "we want you to take 5 days off during this rotation, etc etc".

Hi have you heard back anything for the blood sciences one yet? On my applications bar on nhs jobs site a remove application button has appeared. It wasn't there before and I've applied for other jobs and that hasn't randomly appeared I think it means I've been rejected already and they haven't told me yet . Btw I'm from Wales, but only know basic welsh. Hardly anyone speaks it around here, don't know why they'd want it.

Hey, no I haven't heard! I just really wanna know. The closer these ghetto dissertation hand in date, the more stressful haha! Yeah that bar has moved from mine and I haven't heard either. Did they say they would let us know if we are unsuccessful, I can't remember?

Yeah, I did it before the interview too but only went back to the second page. I thought it would be ok to go back now as I've had my interview! I have emailed technical support and hope they can set it to keep my edited form; I just wrote no in the more info box at first so I could get to the next pages and book my interview slot asap, so I will be gutted if they don't allow you to edit it! It isn't a very good system

Got a rejection from haematology, but that was my second choice. Here's hoping for microbiology!
