Ok this is a question to any of the current trainees. It says that as you are employed by the NHS you will be entitled to the usual annual leave. I am wondering how that works exactly, if you have rotations and leactures and all of that how do you pencil in time for annual leave lol

I didn't see a reply to yours yet, so I'll leave one.

You're employed by your trust as if you were any other employee there. The SHA pay your salary to the department, and then they pay it to you. As such, just like any other NHS employee you have a pension and the 27 days annual leave that come as a new NHS entrant (if you've been in the NHS previously, this may be slightly different).

Your time at uni is spent as 'Study', and counts as a normal day at work. You won't really take annual leave when you have lectures. When you can take your leave is up to how nice your bosses are! If you're taking a week or more off at once they'll (assuming they're nice) pencil your rotations around that provided you give them good notice. My bosses have essentially said "we want you to take 5 days off during this rotation, etc etc".

So does that time table posted earlier for the interviews still stand? Because if they're in may isn't that going to interfere with exams?

Check out the graduate management facebook page. Seems that you're going to get next to no notice, as the interview dates apparently still stand.

Thanks, I had a look there after I posted, it's ridiculous, they're in Birmingham so I'll have to book a hotel room for the night before, not to mention preparing for them and upcoming exams! Every part of this feels poorly planned this year...

I applied for the Blood Sciences specialism. Was it good news? Hopefully I'll hear soon either way! Are you from Wales/a Welsh speaker by any chance? I seem to remember them saying something about preferring welsh speakers...

Hi have you heard back anything for the blood sciences one yet? On my applications bar on nhs jobs site a remove application button has appeared. It wasn't there before and I've applied for other jobs and that hasn't randomly appeared :s-smilie: I think it means I've been rejected already and they haven't told me yet  . Btw I'm from Wales, but only know basic welsh. Hardly anyone speaks it around here, don't know why they'd want it.

I completely agree. I'm flying from Australia so I've had to be optimistic and assume I get an interview! Flights would be a fortune if I waited any longer. We would have waited over 2 months for the processing of applications; bit of a blunder!

Australia? Wow, hope you get an interview

From what I've heard about the Scottish/Welsh scheme, rejections have only been given when people have chased them up. Would be worth doing, especially if you have an interview and have missed their call/email.

Thanks a lot for clarifying this, I just suddenly thought about it and wasn't sure what would happen, but thanks to your post i now know

Also JasminFay that tab automatically appears 4 weeks after the closing date from what I remember, as most posts say that if you haven't heard back by then its a no. If the advert for the job you applied for doesn't say that then you might still have hope. Good luck either way

Ah I know I feel the same, I'm revising for my exams now so just want one less stress :frown: I don't know, I assumed they would let us know, it's really mean if they don't! Fingers crossed now it won't be long especially if other people have heard
We have just received the Clinical Immunology results & are just quality checking them. We hope to have emailed all Clinical Immunology candidates by COP 2nd April. Good luck

Just thought I'd share this from the Facebook page, good luck Clinical Immunologists
They've also said they haven't received the results back yet for med phys/eng but will post when they have a date for us.... This has made me so much more nervous now

Good luck anyone going for Immunology, this is the latest on the FB page:

"We are now emailing ALL Clinical Immunology candidates - don't forget to check your spam box.If you have not received an email by 13:00 please contact the helpdesk ASAP - good luck"
Good luck everyone!

I've applied for Biochemistry and Genetics - hoping to hear from Genetics this week given the interviews are in 3 weeks time, Biochem probably next week or week after I'm guessing :frown:. Slightly worried though as I'm most likely going to end up with a 2:2 unless this year goes *really* well...can't imagine anything worse than getting an offer then missing it :frown:

Applied for a couple of other jobs via NHS jobs site but not heard anything yet, they've not been closed for 4 weeks yet though so there's still hope!

Yeah, I did it before the interview too but only went back to the second page. I thought it would be ok to go back now as I've had my interview! I have emailed technical support and hope they can set it to keep my edited form; I just wrote no in the more info box at first so I could get to the next pages and book my interview slot asap, so I will be gutted if they don't allow you to edit it! It isn't a very good system :frown:

Did you hear back from technical support? They haven't replied to my email yet :frown:
Emails going out to all candidates for Haematology and Transfusion Science
Blood Sciences Clinical Immunology
Blood Sciences Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics & these candidates should have heard from us by COP Tuesday 2nd April. If no email please check your spam folder first & then call our helpdesk on Wednesday.

Just posted on FB

Still no sign of Micro :frown:
Got a rejection from haematology, but that was my second choice. Here's hoping for microbiology!

Ah well :frown: Good luck with microbiology! That's probably next in line after the ones that have already been mentioned, along with genetics, as their interviews are on the second day. Hopefully this means we'll hear within the week!

I am so ready to hear about my application. If I'm headed for rejection I want to be knowing asap so I can actually feel motivated to apply for other placements. Holla to all the Genetics hopefuls out there. x
