Recommended reading for AS Irish history?

I want to do a bit of background reading to get my head around all those confusing home rule bills. I learn a lot better when things are layed out as a story rather than indevidual facts.
are there any books you would recommend for Britain and Ireland 1867-1921 Edexel?
If you want a comprehensive work that covers that period and beyond I would strongly suggest JC Beckett's 'The making of Modern Ireland.'

It's an excellent work, using it at the moment for my 1800 - 1900 study of Irish Nationalism. Also look up Robert Kee and FSL Lyons; the latter has a series of good chapters on Parnell and Home Rule.
