Good hatchback on a £3000-4000 budget?

Any ideas? I'm thinking about a Golf at the moment but they're quite pricey and I would have to get a pretty old one.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Peel Trident?
Apart from a Golf... Focus, Swift or Mini if it's in your budget?

Certainly decent cars for the money though, also check the Seat Leon, Ford Focus also which would be the best alternative, decent reliability and I believe is a better drive and get more for your money.

AirBus A380 is slightly bigger.

Suzuki Swift or a Ford Focus.

The budget should mean you get one that isn't too old or driven round the world and back several times.
Seat Leon Cupra R MK1

Without a doubt.
