Genetics at University of York

Hey, it would be great to hear something about this course at UoY. How is the quality of teaching? What about labs and etc.? Please tell me as much as possible about studying genetics there. I would be very appreciative! :smile:

Hi, I am a first year Biology student at York. Although I'm not on the genetics specialism, the first year is common for everyone so I can tell you about that much. I think the quality of teaching is very good, all the lecturers seem really enthusiastic. We tend to have about 2 3 hour labs timetabled each week, but they usually don't last for the whole time. Do you have any specific questions?

I am the same way! I didn't take A-Level maths so I've had to go to some maths lectures but so far haven't used much maths in the actual course. Hopefully it won't get too heavy later on either! It probably depends which modules you take as well, I think ecology type stuff has more than other modules.
