I failed, had the test at 8:20am. Not upset about it surprisingly (thought I'd be in tears), I'm more proud of myself for not letting nerves get the better of me, pass or fail.
I
technically got 11 minors, but 5 minors were in the same section, so it turned into one serious. The 5 minors were all in the "following distance" (too close to car infront) section.
It was rush hour so I got stuck in very slow traffic. Stopped behind a car and could see their tires on the ground so thought it was ok. But when I first stopped, I saw the examiner mark something. So I took a wild guess, and thought it was for stopping too close to the car (turns out it was). I tried to fix it by pulling back as the traffic moved, but the car behind me was so far up my bum, I could barely do anything lol. Plus the driver was giving me evils through the rear view mirror
(somebody didn't want to go to work this morning), so I didn't wanna brake abruptly infront of Mr Grumpy, incase he beeped at me or something
thought that would make things worse and didn't wanna take the chance so I continued.
I watched the examiner mark every time I stopped in that traffic (5 times in total) and I knew I'd failed. So annoying! If the traffic wasn't so long, I would've been able to get out of the situation quicker, and could've just had 1/2 minors for it
BUT, on a good note, I wasn't nervous at all! The test was nothing like I expected/heard from others (it wasn't the most awful and daunting 40mins of my life at all lol), and the time flew by. Left the centre at 8:24 and arrived back at 9:07, but it literally felt like 10mins! I drove into the test centre thinking "huh? is that it? already? that's what I've been losing sleep over?" ha
One thing I did learn: minors add up so fast! 5 minors just for how close I was (supposedly) to a car in slow traffic seems a bit harsh to me. Wouldn't class that as a habitual fault. I'd understand if it happened 5 separate times, but to literally mark every time I stopped knowing there wasn't much I could do considering the car behind me? gahhh
Just going to book another one asap, and try to get a cancellation for the start of Feb :-) think I'll go for a test between 10am and 1pm next time, don't wanna jinx myself with slow rush hour traffic again! lol
